How to Buy TAG Capufe for Roads with Toll Booths That Won’t Accept Cash?

2

Did you know?

The IAVE TAG is placed on the windshield and allows for automatic toll collection, without the vehicle having to come to a complete stop.
In other words, it’s a system that allows toll payments without a physical transaction.
It works electronically between a gate located on the highway, which has a reading device (antenna) at the top, and the TAG (transponder) mounted on the windshield.
The device receives and sends information when passing under the gate.

How to buy the IAVE TAG?

To purchase your IAVE TAG, you can buy it online on the official CAPUFE website, where you can purchase one or more devices. The cost of each one is 80 pesos.

On the portal, you must fill out a form:

You must provide your contact information: name, phone number, and email address.
Select the drop-off point.
Provide billing information.
Confirm the purchase.
On its website, Capufe asks you to take the following into account:

Devices are only delivered at Regional Units, Toll Plazas, and Central Offices, which are indicated in the Drop-Off Points section.
Devices are available at the drop-off point within two business days of purchase (with a bank card). This is done from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Official identification of the person registered for the purchase and the purchase order must be presented when picking up the devices.

Highways operated by Capufe

It should be noted that Capufe has a presence in almost every state in the country, but not all highways are operated by this agency.

Therefore, if you want to know which sections are operated by Caminos y Puentes Federales, you can consult this map from the Mexican Government.

According to Capufe, some lanes will still accept cash payments, but they will be very few. Therefore, he recommended purchasing the TAG IAVE in advance and urged motorists to join the new system, which seeks to modernize the road infrastructure.
