The first edition of L’Étape Tlaxcala by Tour de France was held on June 29, 2025, with resounding success, consolidating Tlaxcala as a new epicenter of international cycling. The route, designed to emulate the demands of the Tour de France, took competitors through the state’s picturesque landscapes, highlighting its cultural and natural richness. The governor of the state of Tlaxcala, Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, accompanied by Daniel Moncayo Cervantes (Director of the Tlaxcala Sports Institute), presented the first-place trophy and the yellow jersey certifying victory to Omar Ibrahim Moreno Aldana from Mexico City, who recorded the best time of 3:27:07.
The second-place finish went to Miguel Ángel Leal Vargas, a local athlete, who finished with a time of 3:27:08. The Tlaxcala native, who won a medal at the National Olympics, celebrated with the attendees who gathered to celebrate the local cyclist’s achievement. Finally, third place went to Max Luca Cano Peña, who stopped the clock at an official time of 3:27:09.
Without a doubt, the competition ended with a dramatic finish, marking a two-second gap between the top three winners, challenging the level of competition at an event organized by the Tour de France and based in the state of Tlaxcala.
On the women’s side, Daniela Castro Flores narrowly missed out on the silver medal at the 2025 CONADE National Olympiad, recording a time of 3:58:07. Daniela thus secured her place in the 2025 Tour de France stage, representing Tlaxcala on European soil.
Second place went to Mariana Lizbeth Domínguez Paredes, originally from Mexico City, who clocked a time of 4:01:43; while Montserrat Pérez Vera, also from the country’s capital, finished in 4:09:51.
On the short route, Víctor Álvarez Romero from the State of Mexico took first place with a time of 2:27:08. In the women’s event, Dulce Pliego Moreno of Hidalgo took first place with a time of 2:43:00.
A total of 112 prizes were awarded for the first edition of L’Étape Tlaxcala by Tour de France, divided by age group, with only 12 being awarded in full. Four yellow jerseys were also awarded to the first place finishers in both the long and short distances, who secured their ticket to the international stage.
