The Tíisimin K’áak station of the Maya Train in Tenosique represents a gateway to progress for Tabasco and the southeast of the country, connecting five states through more than 1,500 kilometers of railways, affirmed the governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez.
During the opening ceremony of this infrastructure, the governor emphasized that the Maya Train is an example of a new way of governing, the result of unprecedented public investment, and made possible by the fight against corruption.
During the ceremony, which was attended by the general director of the Maya Train, Óscar David Lozano Ávila, as well as mayors, business leaders, and heads of the Ministry of Defense in Tenosique and Villahermosa, May Rodríguez asserted that the project not only boosts tourism and the local economy, but also strengthens culture and promotes collective well-being.
He also rejected the idea that the Maya Train does not pose a threat to the environment, asserting that, on the contrary, it has opened spaces for research, ecological protection, and understanding of our roots.
Stations in Tabasco benefit neighboring municipalities
In his speech, Lozano Ávila recognized the current governor of Tabasco’s contribution to the southeastern railway project, highlighting his commitment and track record.
For her part, the mayor of Tenosique, Sandra Beatriz Hernández Jiménez, celebrated that this station not only strengthens connectivity with states such as Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Chiapas, but also positions Tabasco as a tourist and cultural hub.
She noted that the state has three Mayan Train stations: one in Villa El Triunfo and two in Tenosique, which will generate benefits for neighboring municipalities such as Balancán and Emiliano Zapata.
