Four people were killed, including a minor and a transportation leader, in an armed attack reported this afternoon in the capital of Oaxaca.

The incident occurred near Parque del Amor, around 4:30 p.m., in the Colonia Alemán neighborhood, under the DIF bridge.

Sources confirmed that among the victims was Juan Yavhé Luis Villaseca, identified as a transportation leader and member of the Youth Confederation of Mexico organization, as well as a woman and a child. A fourth man also died in the incident.

The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) began an investigation to clarify the events. According to preliminary investigations, the occupants of a blue Ford Raptor pickup truck were directly attacked with gunfire.

After receiving the report, coordinated actions were initiated between the FGEO and the Metropolitan Security and Coordination Command.

The justice institution reported that the probable perpetrators were monitored through the cameras of the Control, Command, and Communication Center (C4).

It also indicated that, as part of the response, a van that could be related to the incident was seized.

The FGEO, through the Valles Centrales Deputy Prosecutor’s Office and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for High-Impact Crimes, stated that it is carrying out the prosecutorial and forensic work with an interdisciplinary team.

“The objective is to establish various lines of investigation, and monitoring and analysis work continues to find whoever is responsible for these events,” the Oaxacan Prosecutor’s Office stated.

Neighbors in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots and called emergency numbers.

Municipal Police, State Highway Patrol, and paramedics responded to the scene, where they found the four occupants of the van with no vital signs.

Juan Yavhé Luis Villaseca, identificado como líder transportista, fue asesinado junto con otras tres personas, entre ellas un menor de edad, en la capital de Oaxaca.
