This July 25th, the city of Santiago de Querétaro commemorates its 494th founding anniversary, consolidating its position as one of the cities with the greatest historical, cultural, and architectural richness in Mexico. The capital of Querétaro celebrates almost five centuries of life, marked by enduring traditions, pride in its identity, and a legacy that remains present in every corner of the Historic Center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
From very early on, municipal and state authorities led civic and cultural activities to commemorate this emblematic date. The Plaza de Armas, the Zenea Garden, and other emblematic squares came alive with artistic performances, traditional music, and popular expressions that commemorated the city’s founding in 1531.
In addition, as part of the celebration, a free concert with the Kabah group will be held this Friday in Plaza Fundadores, where thousands of Querétaro families and visitors are expected to attend. This musical event is part of a program of activities prepared to pay tribute to the history of a city that has managed to grow with vision, without losing its essence.
Santiago de Querétaro has positioned itself as one of the most prosperous cities in the country, with outstanding urban development, a dynamic economy, and a society distinguished by its civic spirit and love for its roots. 494 years after its founding, Querétaro not only remembers its origins, but also looks to the future with strength, unity, and hope.
