María de Jesús Mundo’s wait ended this Thursday, July 24th, with her death at the Puebla Bus Station (CAPU), where she had been waiting for her children to arrive, just as she had been for years, since she was abandoned there.
Her strange stillness alerted the bus station workers, who requested the presence of pre-hospital medical technicians to assess her condition. However, there was nothing they could do, as María de Jesús no longer showed vital signs.
Immediately, security personnel cordoned off the seats where she was to prevent curious onlookers from approaching her.

Exactly one year ago, the Las Noticias team interviewed the grandmother who finally lost her life after years of waiting at the CAPU.
The elderly woman, María de Jesús Mundo, was spending the night at the Puebla Bus Station after being abandoned by her three children. She had a leg injury and one of her feet was swollen, making her unable to go to the bathroom.
Her bladder had become inflamed, causing urinary problems that forced her to wear an adult diaper.

Her case went viral, leading residents of Puebla and the general public to request help with food and shelter. According to her, the grandmother hadn’t been spending the night at the bus station for five years, but rather had been waiting for twenty years.
Due to her ailments, María de Jesús was constantly in a bad mood, refused help from acquaintances, and had fallen into a seemingly depressed mood. The woman requested respect for her privacy and that her information not be shared in the media or on social media.
This Thursday night, experts from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) arrived to remove the body and transport it to the forensic laboratory, where a legal autopsy will be performed and the legal procedures for burial will be carried out.
In addition, the information from the investigation file and her half-life will be kept safe, so that it can be shown in case her daughters or son ever return to look for her.
