Members of the Interinstitutional Operation Bases (BOI) rescued two kidnapped paramedics in the city of Chihuahua and arrested three people allegedly involved in the incident, one of whom was injured while trying to flee.

The law enforcement intervention took place in the city of Parral, following a chase that began when the alleged perpetrators detected the police presence and freed their victims under a bridge.

The operation began when the two paramedics, a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, responded to a request for service aboard a private ambulance in the state capital.

During this operation, they were deprived of their liberty and later transported in the same ambulance to the city of Parral. In this municipality, members of the BOI Cells—made up of agents from the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), and the National Guard (GN)—located the emergency unit at the entrance to the city.

Upon noticing the presence of authorities, the alleged perpetrators decided to free the paramedics under a bridge and continued their escape in the ambulance. Security forces inspected the scene and rescued the two victims, who were handcuffed and in a state of shock.

They reported that the kidnapping occurred when they responded to a call for help, after which they were subdued and deprived of their liberty.

The ambulance chase ended on Cherokees Street in the Villas del Tecnológico neighborhood, where the vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Two individuals got out of the vehicle and attempted to escape by jumping onto the roofs of nearby homes. However, both were caught and detained by security personnel.

One of the individuals, identified as Marco Antonio S.Y., 22, originally from Durango, suffered injuries after falling from a roof while fleeing and received medical attention. The second detainee was identified as Carlos Iván R.F., 35, also from Durango. Both were taken into custody by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern District Attorney’s Office for their alleged involvement in the crimes of express kidnapping and vehicle theft.

A few minutes later, in another intervention by authorities on the Luis Donaldo Colosio ring road, Javier D.C., 25, also from Durango, was arrested. According to official information, this individual was allegedly performing surveillance and alerting duties to facilitate the escape of the suspects.

The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will compile the corresponding case file to determine their legal status in connection with the events.

The authorities reiterated that, in accordance with current laws and regulations, the detainees are presumed innocent until proven guilty through a sentence issued by a judicial authority, in compliance with Article 13 of the National Code of Criminal Procedure.
