Officers from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) rescued 15 women victims of human trafficking during a search of a bar in Tulum.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes, part of the FGE, obtained and executed a search warrant for an establishment, from which they rescued 15 Mexican women, suspected victims of human trafficking in the form of prostitution, in this municipality.

Personnel from the Specialized Unit for Human Trafficking Crimes observed the constant entry and exit of men from a building that operates as a bar.

Given this evidence, the Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation file to present it to the Control Judge, who issued a search warrant for the establishment. During this search, they rescued 15 women who were engaged in recruiting and providing sexual services, for which they charged between 500 and 1,000 pesos, 50 percent of which was used as a bar commission. The bar had six rooms where they provided services, renting for 100 pesos.

The officers participating in the search also seized evidence related to sexual exploitation, including underwear and condom packaging.

At the end of the investigation, the officers placed the corresponding security seals on the property, which was placed under the custody of this Social Representative.

The seized evidence will be forwarded to the respective forensic departments to analyze the storage devices, as well as the logs and documents found in a folder, in order to integrate all the information into the investigation file.

Las trabajadoras sexuales cobraban de 500 a mil pesos por servicio, de los cuales 50 por ciento era para la comisión del bar, en el que había seis habitaciones.
