Between January and July 2025, the state of Tlaxcala experienced significant growth in the tourism sector, attracting 244,704 visitors. This figure represents a 20.64 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to data from the Sustainable Tourism Observatory, the state had 202,835 visitors the previous year.
Of the total number of tourists, the majority were domestic, with 224,086 visitors, while foreigners totaled 20,618.
The highest influx was recorded in July, with 52,667 people, slightly surpassing the previous year’s figures of 51,118 for the same month.
The increase in the number of tourists translated into a significant economic impact. The total economic impact was estimated at 468.15 million pesos. Ninety percent of this income came from domestic visitors, while the remaining 10 percent was contributed by international tourism.
Regarding hotel occupancy, averages varied throughout the period, reaching their highest point in June at 53.48 percent. The average visitor stay was 1.53 days.
The Tourism Observatory highlighted the importance of the sector in the local economy. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, tourism generated employment for approximately 39,400 people in the state, demonstrating its importance as an engine of development and a vital source of employment in Tlaxcala.
It is worth noting that Tlaxcala welcomed 116,979 tourists during the first four months of 2025, representing a 15.37% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Tlaxcala Sustainable Tourism Observatory (OTS).
April 2025 was the busiest month, attracting 36,493 domestic tourists and 2,904 international tourists. Foreign visitors accounted for 8.5% of the total during this four-month period. In contrast, in 2024, the highest influx was March, with 38,978 tourists, even surpassing the numbers for Holy Week in 2023.
The 15.37% increase is based on a comparison with the 101,391 visitors Tlaxcala welcomed during the first four months of 2024.
