The Álamos City Council reported that the closure is due to the poor condition of the bridge over the Tetaboca Creek.
Due to the heavy rains recorded in the region, the Álamos City Council, Sonora, reported that the Álamos-Navojoa and Navojoa-Álamos highways will remain closed until further notice.
The road closure is due to the poor condition of the bridge over the Tetaboca Creek, which poses a risk to vehicular traffic and the safety of users.
“Due to the flooding of the tributary, the Tetaboca Bridge in Navojoa has been closed to traffic. Caution is recommended and we follow the instructions of the authorities on the scene,” reported the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities from the Álamos City Council, as well as the state Civil Protection, urge the public to take due precautions and avoid driving in the area to avoid risky situations.
The Sonora State Civil Protection Coordination, in coordination with agencies from all three levels of government, is conducting surveys in the various areas affected by the heavy rains resulting from post-tropical cyclone Lorena.
Throughout the state, there are 144 shelters ready for use by those in need.
Preventive Evacuation
Personnel from the Emergency and Disaster Response Directorate of the State Civil Protection Coordination and the State Fire Management Brigade of Sagarhpa and Sonora Civil Protection carried out the preventive evacuation of two elderly adults in the municipality of Navojoa due to the heavy rains.
