New measles outbreak jeopardizes Mexico’s health certificate

Mexico is at risk of losing its measles-free status: this is the warning issued by public health specialists following the increase in cases so far in 2025. According to official reports, as of September 4, 4,416 infections had been confirmed, of which more than 93% were in Chihuahua. The spread has also reached 20 other states, raising alarm among federal authorities and international organizations.
