Between January and July 2025, Mexico received 55.8 million international visitors, representing a 13.5% increase over the same period in 2024, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism.
The Ministry noted in a statement that this increase in traveler arrivals was reflected in the economy: Revenue reached $21.682 billion, 6.8% more than last year and 42.4% higher than 2019, consolidating tourism as one of the most dynamic sectors in the country.
Within this flow of visitors, 27.7 million were international tourists, a 7.2% annual increase. In July, the peak season month, 8.4 million travelers were registered, representing a 12.3% increase compared to 2024.
Spending also showed a positive trend: Each inbound tourist spent an average of $1,269, a figure 7.1% higher than the previous year and 24.5% higher than pre-pandemic levels.
Mexico receives more female tourists than male on international flights.
Another relevant fact is the arrival of 6.61 million foreign women by air, 1.7% more than in 2024. Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that the increase in female travelers confirms the key role of women in the industry, both in boosting local economies and promoting the country’s culture.
Finally, these results reflect international confidence in Mexico as a tourist destination and the diversification of its offerings, which range from beaches and culture to gastronomic and nature experiences. The sector, in addition to strengthening the national economy, remains a generator of employment and a driver of regional development.
