The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported that Mexico ranked as the sixth most visited country in the world after receiving more than 8.4 million international visitors in July 2025, representing a 12.3% increase compared to July 2024.

Foreign currency income from foreign tourists amounted to $3 billion; however, average spending per person decreased 1.9% over the same period.

How many tourists arrived in Mexico in July 2025?

According to INEGI, of the total number of registered visitors:

  • 4.24 million were international tourists who stayed overnight in the country, a figure 6.1% higher than in 2024.
  • 4.15 million were day trippers who did not spend the night in Mexico, a 19.5% annual increase.
  • International tourists (those entering from beyond the border) totaled 2.42 million, a 3.2% year-over-year increase.
    Regarding transportation:
  • 80.8% arrived by air, an increase of 0.7%.
  • 19.2% arrived by land, an increase of 15.7%.
  • Border tourists totaled 1.81 million, 10.3% more than in July 2024.

The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that, in the first half of 2025, international tourism in Mexico grew 7.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

INEGI also reported that 6.58 million Mexicans traveled abroad in July 2025, representing a 12.2% annual increase.

Of these, 1.76 million were international tourists, a 7% increase compared to 2024.
