The flight from Querétaro to Madrid with Iberojet will begin in November due to the necessary permits, said Secretary of Sustainable Development Marco del Prete.

The flight was announced in April of this year by the airline and Querétaro state authorities, to begin on October 20th, with aircraft with a capacity of 430 passengers per flight and a cost of more than 20,000 pesos for a round-trip flight.

Meanwhile, the state official mentioned that the airline must complete procedures with the Civil Aviation Agency and with Spanish authorities to begin the flight.

“We are waiting for confirmation from the airline, and they must complete the necessary procedures,” he indicated.

He noted that he has no record of ticket sales for this flight having already begun, and estimates that sales will begin at the end of September.

It should be noted that Tourism Secretary Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado had stated that tickets for the flight have not yet been released due to the lack of federal permits.

The flight would operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from Querétaro International Airport (AIQ). According to data from the state government, the growing demand for tourist and business connections between Europe and the El Bajío region prompted the flight.

There are 196 Spanish companies in the state, and within a 200-kilometer radius of Querétaro, 119,000 passengers travel to Spain, representing 11% of Mexican passengers visiting that country.
