Early Friday morning, the National Guard reported the blockade and burning of vehicles in eight locations in the state of Zacatecas, at least five of which border the state of Durango, in the municipalities of Sombrerete, Fresnillo, and Río Grande.

In this regard, the Secretary of Public Security, Óscar Galván Villarreal, reiterated that Durango remains protected, supported by the measures established through the National Security Strategy and, in this region, by the La Laguna Special Command. He assured that a climate of security persists in this state, although he noted that the design of strategies is a daily process, as “we are not exempt” from any incident.

During his visit to Gómez Palacio to participate in the Security Roundtable with the Special Command, Galván Villarreal asked the population planning to travel to Zacatecas to monitor information generated by the National Guard authorities, since as of this morning some points were still closed and federal authorities are focused on removing barricades and stranded vehicles in these areas.
