Three armed attacks left five people dead and five injured on the night of October 2, 2025, in Pénjamo, Guanajuato. In one case, a 3-year-old boy was killed aboard a motorcycle along with his father.
The murder of the boy and his father sparked consternation and recriminations among residents of the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, who, after hearing gunshots, saw the minor dead.

Shortly before, an armed group shot seven people in the Arroyo Hondo neighborhood. A teenager and an adult named Víctor died there. Another man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and four people, one of them a woman, were taken to medical institutions on their own.
The State Attorney General’s Office reported that another man was killed in the Juárez neighborhood of this city. As of Friday morning, he remained unidentified.
Following the wave of violence, with no arrests made, municipal security and National Guard personnel have intensified their surveillance operations.
