Is it a good time to travel to Mazatlán? The Durango prosecutor warns against it for this reason.

Durango prosecutor Sonia Yadira de la Garza Fragoso asked the citizens of her state not to travel to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, or to consider visiting the beach destination.

“It’s not the best time. I can’t say a resounding no, it’s not the best time. Consider it.”

Why is the Durango prosecutor urging people not to travel to Mazatlán?

The official made these statements after confirming that they have received reports of eight Durango residents between the ages of 20 and 30 who have disappeared in Mazatlán and one more in Culiacán.

In recent weeks, the disappearance of Carlos Emilio Galván Valenzuela and the searcher María de Los Ángeles Valenzuela has been reported.

What happened to Carlos Emilio Galván Valenzuela?

In the early hours of October 5, Carlos Emilio Galván Valenzuela was last seen at a nightclub in the Golden Zone, after saying he was going to the bathroom.

The 21-year-old was in Mazatlán on vacation with his family and went to have fun at the “Terraza Valentino” with his cousins, who reported that he hadn’t returned.

What happened to María de los Ángeles Valenzuela?

On October 14, María de los Ángeles Valenzuela, a searcher and member of the Mazatlán Collective Hearts United for a Same Cause, disappeared while returning from a store near her home.

On social media, her mother shared: “A white car just took my daughter María de los Ángeles Valenzuela. In Colonia Allende in Mazatlán. Please help me spread the word so we can find her. Any information is valuable.”

María de los Ángeles Valenzuela is searching for her father, Manuel Valenzuela, who disappeared on November 15, 2024, and her cousin, who disappeared in February 2025, both in the town of El Castillo.
