As a result of ongoing coordination between the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and the U.S. Marshals Service, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora collaborated in the location and surrender of a fugitive from U.S. justice with an outstanding arrest warrant in Maricopa County, Arizona.
The operation took place near Lázaro Cárdenas and Francisco I. Madero Streets, in the Centro neighborhood of Puerto Peñasco, where David Anthony, 49, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, was located. He is wanted by U.S. authorities for third-degree robbery.
After his arrest, the individual was placed at the disposal of personnel from the National Migration Institute (INM), where his transfer to the international port of entry in Lukeville, Arizona, was arranged for deportation and formal surrender to U.S. federal authorities.
With these actions, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora, through AMIC, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening binational cooperation mechanisms in the area of law enforcement, contributing to the capture and return of individuals wanted for serious crimes abroad.
