The Michoacán government reported that federal highways and toll roads in Michoacán were clear of all blockades by agricultural producers after 10:00 AM today, allowing for a smooth and safe flow of traffic to the state’s main tourist and traditional destinations, such as Pátzcuaro, Tzintzuntzan, Janitzio, Santa Fe de la Laguna, and other locations in the Lake Region, for the Day of the Dead festivities.
The Secretary of Government, Raúl Zepeda Villaseñor, explained that, in parallel, a large-scale security operation has been deployed with more than 1,100 security personnel from municipalities, the state, and the federal government. “The state government has implemented an inter-institutional operation to support families and visitors, ensuring that this Day of the Dead is celebrated with peace, pride, and respect for our roots,” the state official stated.
It should be noted that the toll booths had already been cleared on Wednesday afternoon, but at 9 p.m. the protesters partially blocked the plazas of Zinapécuaro and Paníndicauaro, but at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday, they were completely cleared, according to the Michoacán government secretariat.
