The city of Guanajuato is reaffirming its status as a world-class film destination. From Monday, November 24th, until December 10th, the state capital will host the filming of a major Asian production, tentatively titled “The Chase.”

Jorge Luis Anguiano, head of the Tourism Department, confirmed the details of this project, highlighting that it is a Chinese film with high production standards and global distribution potential.

Filming will last approximately two weeks. During this time, the production will utilize iconic locations and various points throughout the city, including the city center, Plaza de la Paz, Sangre de Cristo, and the San Luisito neighborhood.

The production’s operations center, or basecamp, is already set up in the Terraplén area, from where logistics to the different filming locations will be coordinated.

Anguiano emphasized that, beyond promoting tourism, this filming represents a direct source of employment for the people of Guanajuato. The production is hiring local talent, including staff, editing crew, translators, and stunt doubles (extras).

“The Asian market has grown tremendously, and this is an even bigger opportunity (…) It’s a Chinese film that will premiere there, but it has international distribution, so it will generate significant benefits and serve as a great showcase for the city,” the official stated.

In addition to the economic impact from services, it was reported that the production will make in-kind donations to benefit the city.

Regarding traffic, the head of Tourism clarified that there will be no permanent road closures. There will be gradual and intermittent closures only during filming.

A traffic operation will be deployed to manage the flow of vehicles, and informational bulletins will be issued days before each shoot to alert the public about the specific work schedules and areas.

Finally, Anguiano revealed that this is not the only project in the pipeline, as negotiations are ongoing with other production companies, including a Spanish company and several Mexican ones, solidifying Guanajuato capital as a globally recognized stage.
