Mérida Airport surpasses record passenger number

The Mérida International Airport “Licenciado Manuel Crescencio Rejón” has once again surpassed its 2024 passenger traffic record, reaching 3,206,799 passengers from January to October of this year, a 5.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to official figures from Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), this year’s figures represent a real growth of 166,626 passengers compared to the 3,040,173 reported from January to October 2024.

Furthermore, of the total passengers reported so far this year, 2,883,772 were domestic travelers, a 5.4% increase compared to the 2,737,267 domestic passengers recorded during the first 10 months of last year.

Meanwhile, 327,027 were international or foreign passengers, representing a 6.6% increase compared to the 302,906 in 2024—a real difference of 24,121 more people who have traveled this year.

In October alone, the airport received 330,325 passengers, an 8.7% increase compared to the 303,754 passengers in the same month of 2024; this represents a real increase of 26,571 people.

Information from Grupo Asur indicates that a total of 3,669,877 passengers traveled through Mérida International Airport throughout 2024. Therefore, the total accumulated through October already represents 86.6% of the total accumulated at the end of last year.

Given that November and December are the busiest months for the airport, along with holiday periods, the general administration has high hopes of surpassing the 2024 figures, as passenger traffic has increased every month consecutively.

Airport administrator Óscar Carrillo Maldonado noted that passenger traffic increases during this latter part of the year, with December being one of the peak seasons at this location. Currently, [number of] passengers are being handled daily.
