A video circulating on social media shows several students from the Center for Technological, Industrial, and Service-Oriented High School (CBTis 25) in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, assaulting a classmate of short stature on school grounds. The footage captures the students pushing and kicking the student, who tries to dodge the blows.

Personnel from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec went to CBTis 25 to investigate the case, which, in addition to constituting alleged school bullying, involves a person with a disability, as the victim suffers from achondroplasia, a disorder that affects bone growth.

The case reached the Prosecutor’s Office after the video went viral. The video also shows one classmate recording the assault and another intervening during the incident.

According to sources, the mother of Alberto, the young man who was assaulted, went to CBTis 25 after learning what happened through the dissemination of the video. She met with the principal, Naul Aníbal Cortés, and they agreed that a meeting with the parents of the students involved would be held next Monday, January 12. So far, the institution has not announced any sanctions against the aggressors.

Educational authorities indicated that the video was recorded between October and November 2025. The school’s academic sub-director stated that the events could have occurred during a “rough game” between students.

However, he acknowledged that the severity of the images and the student’s condition raise doubts about the true sequence of events. He asserted that “there is no sanction as such for the young people, because there was no report, no report of aggression by ‘Betito,’ however, we have had some incidents with them for rough play,” he stated.

He added that a formal investigation has been launched and the students involved will be confronted.

The Executive Secretariat of the Local System for the Comprehensive Protection of the Rights of Children and Adolescents (SE-Sipinna) rejected any practice that puts the physical or emotional well-being of minors at risk and announced its direct intervention at CBTis 25.

“Based on the video circulating on social media, the agency will begin a process of working with the families of the students involved, using a humanistic approach, with a disability and human rights perspective, to raise awareness within the educational community and ensure that these acts are not repeated,” SE-Sipinna indicated.

The agency will work in coordination with the Educational Liaison Office of the Federal Ministry of Public Education (SEP), emphasizing the need to build “protective educational environments, where respect, equality and inclusion are a tangible reality.”
