Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal reported that, after holding meetings with the mayors of all 39 municipalities, agreements were reached to define priority projects throughout the state, based on well-planned projects and genuine coordination between municipalities, the state, and the federal government. He stated that the goal is to move beyond unsubstantiated requests and advance concrete projects that address the real needs of each community and generate development.

Villegas Villarreal explained that some municipalities, such as Cuencamé, must adopt a new vision for the future, given their strategic connectivity and regional projects, such as the gas pipeline. He indicated that these factors can spark development hubs, but also necessitate addressing structural issues as a priority, such as water supply and urban planning.

The governor noted that the Durango government maintains ongoing negotiations with federal agencies to access additional funding through cooperative agreements, particularly in areas such as culture, the environment, water, and infrastructure. He detailed that the state has approximately 2 billion pesos in its own resources for public works, which allows it to complement and strengthen municipal and federal projects.

Regarding water and sanitation, the governor highlighted that priority projects are being addressed in various municipalities, such as the interconnection of tanks and new pipelines in the capital, as well as a serious drainage problem in Gómez Palacio, whose solution requires an investment of nearly 450 million pesos, through a joint effort between the Federal, State, and Municipal governments, given that it is a matter of public health.

Similarly, Villegas Villarreal emphasized the importance of the Pueblo Nuevo dam project, which is proposed to be carried out under a co-responsibility model, where the municipality will contribute the land, the State the pipeline, and the Federal government the construction of the dam. He explained that this type of agreement allows progress on fundamental solutions to guarantee the water supply and address a priority need for the population.

Finally, Esteban Villegas reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all 39 municipalities will receive significant infrastructure projects and announced that he will tour the entire state between January and February to meet directly with mayors and their technical teams. He explained that this work will allow them to have clear projects ready for bidding by March, guaranteeing that the resources will translate into concrete results for the families of Durango.
