The arrest of Shadani Lorena “N”, identified as a priority target in the State Crime Atlas, sparked a day of tension and uncertainty in the community of Chunhuhub, where road blockades, business closures, and school closures were reported, following a large-scale inter-agency operation led by authorities from Quintana Roo and Yucatán.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that the arrest was carried out without the use of force, as a result of intelligence work and coordination between state and federal agencies. The woman is accused of having ties to a criminal group responsible for violence in the southern part of the state, according to local media.

The events occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, January 22, around 6:00 p.m., when members of the Quintana Roo and Yucatán Investigative Police, along with the National Guard, the Mexican Air Force, the Secretariat of National Defense, and the Quintana Roo Police, conducted raids and operations by land and air in the community.

According to local reports, the actions included temporary mobility restrictions, inspections of various homes, and an aircraft flyover, which generated alarm among residents and prompted the preemptive closure of businesses due to fears of a possible armed confrontation.

Following the arrest, a group of approximately ten hooded motorcyclists, allegedly linked to the now-detained woman, blocked access to Chunhuhub, Ramonal, and Polyuc. The protesters placed trees across the road and burned tires, keeping the roads closed for nearly two hours.

The demonstrators demanded an end to the raids, claiming that belongings had been stolen from inspected homes during previous operations. However, by the time security forces arrived, the blockades had already been lifted.

Around 8:00 p.m., authorities managed to restore traffic and bring the situation under control, although commercial activity did not resume that night for security reasons.

As a preventative measure, the administration of an agricultural school in the community announced the suspension of academic activities for Friday, January 23, to safeguard the well-being of the students.

“Due to the security incidents that occurred in the community of Chunhuhub and in order to protect our students, we are announcing the suspension of academic activities,” the school stated in a press release.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) indicated that Shadani Lorena “N” was placed at the disposal of the competent authority, where her legal status will be determined according to law, and stated that it will continue to provide updates on the progress of the investigation.

Unofficially, it was reported that the operations could be extended, as these actions are part of the search for more people allegedly involved in the recent triple homicide in Dzilám González, Yucatán.
