The mayor of Cancún, Ana Paty Peralta, announced the “Cancún, Pizza Festival” gastronomic event, which will take place in July at the Malecón Tajamar boardwalk. The announcement was made from Madrid, as part of the agreements reached at the 2026 International Tourism Fair (FITUR).

During her remarks, the mayor emphasized that the event will promote gastronomy, culture, and family togetherness. She also highlighted that pizza symbolizes the bond between Cancún and Italy, as it is a dish recognized and appreciated worldwide.

The initiative stems from the sister city relationship between Cancún and Naples, Italy. Therefore, the event seeks to strengthen the cultural and tourism ties between the two destinations, filling the Malecón Tajamar with shared flavors, aromas, and experiences.

Ana Paty Peralta made the announcement accompanied by the councilor of the city of Naples, Domenico Marrazzo, and the honorary consul of Italy in Cancún, Filippo Strano. The presentation took place at the Cancun stand at IFEMA Madrid, the venue for FITUR.

The event will be inspired by the traditional Naples Festival. It will combine local talent with guest Italian chefs. It will also include an open competition for Cancun restaurateurs, who will compete to create the best pizzas. A jury will award prizes to the three best dishes.

With this gastronomic fair, the municipal government seeks to diversify the tourism offerings and strengthen Cancun’s cultural identity through international cuisine.
