Authorities located the body of an unidentified man, showing signs of torture, naked, and with his hands bound, on the side of the Pan-American Highway, on the Ocozocoautla-Cintalapa stretch, in Chiapas.
The body was found beside the Pan-American Highway, specifically at kilometer 94+600, at the intersection of the highway connecting Cintalapa and Arriaga, an area considered strategic due to its regional traffic.
According to official sources, the man had lacerations, bruises, and burns, indicating an act of violence prior to his death. The victim remains unidentified.
Following the report, members of the VII Military Region, the National Guard, the Municipal Police, and the State Guard arrived at the scene, along with forensic experts and agents from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who carried out the corresponding procedures and removed the body.
The body was subsequently transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), where it will remain until it is identified and claimed by family members.
The region where the body was found maintains a permanent security presence due to the presence of cells from the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, criminal groups that, according to authorities, have been operating in the area for the past five years.
Prosecutorial authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the crime and determine the victim’s identity, as well as the circumstances of the homicide.
