The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, headed by Mayor Julio Cárdenas, through the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) Directorate, carried out a cleanup campaign at Pescadores Beach as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental protection and comply with the environmental criteria of the Blue Flag certification. This initiative promotes proper waste management, prevents pollution of the coastal ecosystem, and encourages active community participation.
As a result of the cleanup, 10,470 kilograms of waste were collected, with the participation of ZOFEMAT staff and ninth-semester students of the International Relations program at the University of the Sea.
