Boosting tourism and the regional economy, and demonstrating the transformative power of collaborative work between authorities, producers, and families in Tamaulipas, the delicious Cabrito Festival was a resounding success in the Magical Town of Tula.

The three-day celebration concluded with a horseback parade, the regional cabrito-cooked goat competition, and further tastings of dishes, mezcals, and craft beers, reported Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism for Tamaulipas.

The official highlighted the significant support Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya is providing to the state’s security and infrastructure, which translates into increased investment and visitors.

“Congratulations to each and every participant in the various competitions held, which keep our traditions, unity, and teamwork alive,” he stated.

Among the mezcals participating in the bottle competition, the Gold Medal went to 3 Elenas, produced by Elena Castellanos of San Nicolás. Second place went to Pecado Artesanal from Tula and Mante, and third place to Sierra de San Carlos.

In the Goat Grilling Contest, the winner was Comedor Los Arcos from Tula, followed by Zafra from El Mante, and in third place, Lobos de Mar from Altamira. In the Goat Stew Contest, the team from El Cuerudo Tamaulipeco took first place; second place went to Son de Doña Tita, and third to the Acuario team.

“The Goat Festival has barely ended, and we’re already ready for the Tamaulipas Carnival, a huge celebration that unites Tampico, Madero, and Altamira from February 12th to 15th, with 1.3 million pesos in prizes and free concerts. We hope to see you there, don’t miss it!” concluded Hernández Rodríguez.
