The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters reported that six beaches in the municipality have been temporarily classified as high-risk for recreational use due to adverse sea conditions caused by high waves and strong rip currents. According to the agency, lifeguards are constantly monitoring sea conditions and warning flags posted at the various beaches to promptly inform the public and prevent accidents.
Currently, the red flag, indicating high risk and that the beaches are unsuitable for water activities, remains raised at Playa de Oro, Playa Camarones, Playa Malecón, Playa Los Muertos, Playa Conchas Chinas, and Playa Palmares. Authorities urged residents and visitors to respect the instructions of the lifeguards and avoid entering the water to reduce the risk of incidents.
Civil Protection indicated that yellow flags are flying on the rest of the municipality’s beaches as a precaution, indicating that extra precautions should be taken when carrying out recreational activities in the coastal area.
