Home Depot’s project in San Miguel de Allende is not yet authorized, as the company must improve its mobility plan.
San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. – Mauricio Trejo Pureco, municipal president of San Miguel de Allende, clarified that the construction of a Home Depot in the city is not yet authorized, since the company was asked to improve its mobility plan, which must be integrated into the modernization of the road to Alcocer. This work, which was announced more than two years ago, is expected to be completed in 2026.
After acknowledging that the construction of sidewalks and a bike path on the road to Alcocer is a constant demand of the inhabitants of the area, the mayor assured that the work will be carried out this year.
“These works have already been announced and will be carried out this year. What they demand most is the bike path and the sidewalk, because it has become a very busy area; so, it is very necessary,” he acknowledged.
Trejo Pureco mentioned that these actions will be added to a project that seeks to create an alternate route to the exit road to Querétaro, with the aim of reducing the vehicular load on the boulevard of the Conspirators.
“It is planned to make the street that goes from Alcocer to San José de la Posta, and that joins the exit to Querétaro, so that all the people who go to those directions can leave directly and we can vent that area that is already beginning to be conflictive,” he said.
Regarding the installation of new companies, Mauricio Trejo stressed that in that same area, the construction of a Home Depot and another large company is planned; however, both do not yet received authorization.
“The Home Depot is also planned there, it is not yet authorized, and another important company, which we are asking to improve their mobility plan, because they are right in front of Liverpool, on that corner,” he explained.
