Through its official channels, the U.S. Consulate General in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, alerted the general public—and specifically the Venezuelan community—about a new fraud scheme.
According to the warning, a video is circulating on TikTok falsely claiming that Venezuela has become the 51st state of the United States. The consular authority emphasized this point: “This is not true. There is no legal document or statement from the U.S. government that supports this claim.”
The message is primarily aimed at Venezuelan nationals, who are being deceived with the false promise of free entry into the United States.
The objective of these lies is to extort money from people by charging them for supposed trips to the United States.
“This content was created to generate impact and go viral,” the post states.
