Through the First Councilorship, headed by Dr. José Manuel Larumbe Pineda, the First Annual Dog Race was announced, a recreational activity with a cause that aims to bring families and their pets together in an organized, safe space open to all citizens.
The event will be held on two dates in the municipality: February 22nd in Cabo San Lucas, at Playa Coral Negro (La Empacadora), and March 1st in San José del Cabo, in front of the INDEM offices. Both races will run from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The race includes categories based on breed size—small, medium, and large—and is designed so that anyone can participate with their pet, regardless of prior experience.
The registration requirement is a donation of dog food or cleaning supplies. To register, those interested should send a WhatsApp message to (624) 177-0960 with their chosen date, the runner’s name, the name(s) of their pet(s), and the breed size.
One kit will be given per registered person, regardless of the number of dogs participating.
Space is limited, so prior registration is essential to ensure order and safety at both locations.
This initiative is being carried out in coordination with Unidos por Ayudar, Barkerys, and BMR, who are sponsoring the event.
Dr. Larumbe explained that the intention is to create different spaces for participation where families can easily, responsibly, and meaningfully spend time together. He noted that these types of activities help reclaim public spaces with positive activities, promote responsible pet ownership, and foster more integrated environments within the municipality.
