On February 14, the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office reported the discovery of skeletal remains in various locations within the municipality of Navolato.
Although the investigation into the disappearance of 10 miners in Concordia, Sinaloa, continues, authorities are still finding clandestine graves and bodies in Sinaloa, allegedly due to the high levels of violence perpetrated by organized crime.
On February 11, a report was issued about a pickup truck containing human remains on the Benito Juárez-La Costera highway. In the latest statement, authorities reported that the first skeletal remains were found on a road leading to La Palma.
Other human remains were found near the beach known locally as El Tambor.
In the municipality of Navolato, the search collective “Mothers Fighting for Your Return Home” discovered a clandestine grave between El Bolsón and Cofradía de la Loma. In this, the identification of Hendrika María Derks Martínez, a former police officer who had disappeared almost a year ago, was recorded.
