As part of the Valentine’s Day celebrations, the Government of Zacatecas, led by Governor David Monreal Ávila, held the 2026 Singles’ Street Parade, which brought together more than 4,000 attendees, including singles, friends, families, and couples, for a party open to the public.
The festivities began at 5:00 p.m. with the distribution of commemorative kits, each containing a small bag, mezcal, a small clay mug, limes, salt, and peanuts.
1,500 bags were distributed to the first people to arrive at the starting point, and 4,000 small clay mugs were given to all attendees.
At 6:00 p.m., the Secretary of Tourism, Le Roy Barragán Ocampo, officially kicked off the celebration. The procession proceeded accompanied by eight drum groups and eight donkeys that led the route from the Alameda Trinidad García de la Cadena to the Plaza de Armas.
Prior to the event, registration closed with 2,347 participants, representing 90 percent of the state’s municipalities. Attendees also came from Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nayarit, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Baja California, Yucatán, Chihuahua, and Chiapas.
International participation was also present, with registrations from Argentina and Colombia, as well as from U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, Laredo, San Jose, Chicago, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
Thousands of attendees strolled through the streets and alleyways of the Historic Center, following a route that began at the Alameda, continued along Velasco Alley, then along Del Estudiante Street, followed by Del Cobre and Félix U. Gómez Streets, descended Aquiles Serdán Street, passed through Santo Domingo Plaza and Veyna Alley, and finally arrived at Plaza de Armas, where the musical program took place.
The day concluded with a performance by the Banda Mi Tierra Villanovense, which began at 8:00 p.m., as the closing artistic program for this event.
The Tourism Secretariat provided operational logistics for the event, including the installation of portable restrooms and coordination with security and emergency response agencies.
State security personnel, the Red Cross, Civil Protection, and cleaning staff participated to ensure order, assistance, and suitable conditions during the street parade.
This activity was part of the strategy to promote tourism and strengthen social cohesion in one of the country’s most representative cultural destinations, through experiences that integrate tradition, music, and tours of the Historic Center.
