On Monday morning, an accident involving a bus carrying tourists from the state of Coahuila occurred on the Durango-Gómez Palacio highway at kilometer 107. There were 48 people on board, four of whom sustained minor injuries, and one suffered a nervous breakdown.
Personnel from the State Civil Protection Coordination responded to the scene to assist those with minor injuries after the bus ran off the road and onto the shoulder.
Emergency services from Guadalupe Victoria, Cuencamé, and Durango are responding to the accident where a bus carrying 48 passengers left the highway.
Civil Protection Coordinator Arturo Galindo Cabada reported that only three people sustained minor injuries, all of whom were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
The bus had departed Sunday night from the port of Mazatlán, bound for the city of Torreón. However, an accident at kilometer 107 prevented it from reaching its destination. It was necessary to coordinate efforts to have another bus from the neighboring state of Coahuila pick up the passengers so they could complete their journey.
“The distress call activated the Red Cross, Civil Protection, Municipal Police, Army (Sedena), and National Guard, who immediately responded. We anticipated a complicated situation due to the number of passengers, but fortunately, the passengers are all safe, and the rapid response of the emergency services allowed for comprehensive and timely assistance,” stated Galindo Cabada.
