In the municipality of Querétaro, there is no designated tolerance zone for sex work, and permanent operations are being carried out in different areas of the city, reiterated the municipal Secretary of Government, Federico de los Cobos.

The official clarified that, although the formal operation of this activity is not permitted in the municipality, no arrests are made, since sex work is not classified as a crime. He explained that the authorities’ actions are limited to surveillance and regulation, without criminalizing individuals.

“There are no arrests as such. It’s like if you’re walking: I can’t stop you for walking,” he stated.

De los Cobos indicated that the operations are carried out continuously and in coordination with other municipal departments, with the objective of maintaining order in public spaces and addressing specific situations when they arise, without establishing designated areas for this activity.

He added that the municipal government’s position remains unchanged and that any action is governed by the current legal framework, prioritizing respect for people’s rights and avoiding punitive measures outside the law.
