By December 2025, Mexico had reached a record number of international visitors with 10.13 million foreign tourists, a 12.3 percent increase compared to the same month in 2024, when 9.02 million were recorded, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

According to the International Travelers Survey (EVI), of the total registered in the last month of the year, 5.22 million were international tourists, meaning people who entered the country and stayed overnight for at least one day. With this figure, 2025 closed with a total of 47.7 million, a new record for the country.

These results confirmed the upward trend, following the 45.03 million international tourists the country received in 2024, a 7.4 percent increase over 2023, which also marks the recovery after the years of instability due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, praised these results in her first year leading the department, especially given the favorable scenario ahead with the 2026 World Cup.

“December confirmed that 2025 was a highly successful year for tourism. We closed with a solid trend that allows us to look to the future with optimism. We entered the World Cup year with a strengthened, prepared, and competitive tourism sector, ready to welcome more visitors and showcase Mexico’s greatness to the world,” she stated.
