As part of the joint work agenda established last year through a collaboration agreement, the World Trade Center Durango held a working meeting at the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco) to continue strategies aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and internationalization of Durango businesses.

The meeting was led by the director of WTC Durango, Emily García Montiel, accompanied by the international consultant appointed by the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), Subdelia Sevilla Páez, as well as members of the organization’s team. Representing the State Government were the Secretary of Economic Development, Fernando Rosas Palafox; the Undersecretary of Business, Industrial, and Investment Development, Ricardo López Solís; and the Undersecretary for the Promotion of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Teresa Soto Rodríguez. Also in attendance was architect Alberto Guerrero, representing the municipal director of Economic Development, Valeria Gutiérrez Velasco.

During the meeting, institutional coordination mechanisms were strengthened to boost exports of Durango products, increase the visibility of the state’s strategic sectors, and consolidate an information flow that facilitates business support at different stages of development.

It was highlighted that Durango has sectors with high export potential that can be promoted through the WTCA’s global network—comprised of more than 300 offices in over 90 countries—as well as companies that, even if not yet ready to export, can integrate as suppliers into local, regional, and national production chains.

Among the strategic lines proposed are:

Supporting companies that are already in an advanced stage of exporting.

Professionalizing and preparing those that are in the consolidation process to access international markets.

Strengthening the integration of local suppliers into trade schemes and value chains.

The WTC Durango, whose license was granted to the Juárez University of the State of Durango (UJED), operates with the institutional support of UJED and its rector, Ramón García Rivera, establishing itself as a strategic platform for international collaboration that connects the local productive sector with the global business network.

With this working session, the WTC Durango and the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) reaffirm the continuation of an institutional alliance aimed at boosting the state’s economic development through a coordinated vision of competitiveness and internationalization.
