Authorities in Chiapas have disabled websites and social media accounts allegedly linked to organized crime.
The Undersecretariat of Intelligence and Investigation of the State Public Security Secretariat identified websites and digital accounts that were apparently being used to disseminate content that affects public order and security.
Thus, in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and the State Judiciary, the following accounts were disabled:
Chiapas Crudo
Tabo Ruiz
Marino Militar
Lupita Álvarez Jiménez
These accounts and their administrators are under investigation.
The Chiapas State Public Security Secretariat reiterated its firm policy of preventing digital platforms from being used as tools to serve illicit interests.
The use of digital media to commit illegal acts, manipulate information, or generate narratives linked to potential criminal organizations will be investigated and, where appropriate, punished according to law,” the statement emphasized.
It also urged citizens to act responsibly in the digital environment and avoid disseminating content of illicit origin, as well as to report any space or behavior on social media that could be related to criminal activity.
