Municipal authorities deployed an operation in the vicinity of the San Francisco Church plaza to remove unlicensed vendors and clear sidewalks that had been encroached upon.

The information was released via social media by the City Secretary, Yankel Benítez, who stated that the intervention is part of ongoing efforts to guarantee respect for public space in the capital of Michoacán.

According to the post, during the operation, some individuals were unable to prove ownership of their merchandise, and therefore, filing a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office is being considered.

In his message, the official stated: “In Morelia, public space is respected. Today, we deployed an operation in the vicinity of Plaza San Francisco to remove unlicensed vendors and clear encroached sidewalks. During the intervention, some individuals were unable to prove ownership of their merchandise, and therefore, filing a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office is being considered.”

He concluded: “Here, the law is applied equally. Here, order is not just talk, it’s action. Let it be clear: in Morelia, anarchy does not reign.”
