The suspension of classes until further notice was announced by the State Government, through the Oaxaca State Institute of Public Education (IEEPO) and Section 22 of the CNTE teachers’ union, due to acts of violence such as the burning of vehicles in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.

The Oaxaca teachers’ union reported that, as a preventative measure to guarantee the safety of students and teachers, classes were suspended in elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities, where Section 22 of the CNTE has a presence.

They indicated that this suspension is indefinite, beginning this Monday.

Likewise, the Oaxaca teachers’ union requested security conditions for the safe return of students to classrooms.

Regarding this matter, the Oaxaca State Institute of Public Education also reported the suspension of classes in the Isthmus, awaiting a resolution to the issue to ensure the safe return of students and educational staff.

Meanwhile, parents are demanding safe conditions for their children’s return to the classroom.

It should be noted that in addition to classes, public transportation services were suspended, as well as activities in some areas of the Health Sector and in judicial offices, and some businesses were closed for Monday.
