In January, vehicle sales in Querétaro decreased by 2.3 percent compared to 2015, a decline that could be related to uncertainty surrounding tariffs, according to the Association of Automotive Vehicle Distributors in Querétaro (Amdaqro).

According to the association’s data, 2,912 new vehicles were sold in January, placing Querétaro 14th in the country for new vehicle sales.

The president of Amdaqro, Laura Rodríguez Miranda, indicated that there was a decrease in vehicle sales, with 2,981 units sold in January 2025 compared to 2,912 in January 2026.

“It’s truly sad because we had always been among the top 10 states in sales, and now we’re in 14th place. (…) While last year was difficult, this year is proving even more challenging,” she emphasized.

Querétaro also contributed 2.3 percent of the total number of new vehicles sold in the country, which reached 126,415, representing a 5.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Meanwhile, the states that reported a decrease in vehicle sales nationwide were Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Colima, Morelos, Sonora, and Tabasco.

They highlighted that, in the case of Querétaro, the multipurpose vehicle and truck segment accounted for the most transactions, with 1,602 units sold out of the 2,912 total, representing 55 percent.

Regarding automobiles, 1,310 units were sold, of which 711 were compact cars, 447 subcompacts, 144 luxury cars, and eight sports cars.

By municipality, 1,843 new vehicle purchases were made in the capital city, 321 in Corregidora, 269 in San Juan del Río, 260 in dealerships in El Marqués, 17 in Huimilpan, and 202 in non-conurbated municipalities.
