Following the violence that occurred last Sunday in the country, a total of 95 young people from Guanajuato were located in Ciudad Guzmán and Colima, after being stranded in those cities. State authorities reported that they will receive support to facilitate their safe return to Guanajuato.

The Secretary of Government of Guanajuato, Jorge Jiménez Lona, confirmed that 90 of the young people were forced out of the vehicle they were traveling in before it was damaged.

Given this situation, he stated that the institutional priority has been to guarantee the physical safety of those affected, as well as to coordinate the necessary logistics for the residents of Jaral del Progreso to return to their hometown.

“We’re bringing a group of 90 people from Jaral del Progreso. The governor asked us to support them, and we’re going to get them. They’re stranded in Ciudad Guzmán. They were going on a trip, but unfortunately, they were forced off the buses, which were then set on fire. We’ve been in contact with them since yesterday, and we’ll be providing them with assistance and support. There’s another group of five young people in Colima that we’re tracking down to see if they need assistance,” he said.

The Secretary of Government mentioned that they are already in contact with them so they can return as soon as possible. A team will be sent to pick them up in the next few hours to ensure their safety.

In Guanajuato, the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL) may be strengthening its structure and operational capacity.

The state official also emphasized that this incident highlights the importance of coordination between state governments for the protection of people in transit. Meanwhile, the team from the Secretary of Government is traveling to Ciudad Guzmán.

The identification of the smaller group in Colima remains in the diagnostic phase to ensure that all Guanajuato residents involved have the necessary support to complete their journey back to the state.

Last Sunday, various incidents were reported in municipalities such as León, Silao, Irapuato, and Guanajuato City, including the burning of convenience stores and vehicles, following the operation carried out in Jalisco by federal authorities to capture Nemesio Oseguera, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. This operation resulted in the closure of highways and flights throughout the country.
