Karla Patiño, 34, a Civil Guard agent in Michoacán, also lost her life in the operation against “El Mencho,” and as a final act of love, she donated her organs to continue saving lives.
Karla was not just a number in the official report. She was part of the group of federal agents who faced the violent attack by the cell protecting the leader of the CJNG cartel. Her loyalty and love for Mexico led her to the front lines in Jalisco, where she fulfilled her duty until her last breath.
The Michoacán Public Security Secretariat reported that Agent Karla Patiño was a member of the Specialized Investigation Unit. Tragically, she lost her life while performing her duties.
Medical personnel applauded her organ donation. “Her memory remains. Her legacy lives on,” wrote the Michoacán Public Security Secretariat. The operation of February 22, 2026 will not only be remembered for the fall of Nemesio Oseguera, but will also be remembered for the bravery with which members of the National and Civil Guard confronted one of the largest criminal groups in Mexico.
