Tourism investment in Mazatlán has once again taken center stage on the state’s economic agenda with the official presentation of Verona Resort, an ambitious integrated complex that promises to transform the port’s northern area.

The project was recently presented at the Sinaloa governor’s office, after one of the investors—contacted during the Fitur international tourism fair—visited the state to finalize agreements.

The head of the Sinaloa State Tourism Secretariat, Mireya Sosa Osuna, explained that the development entails an initial investment of 5 billion pesos and the creation of significant direct and indirect jobs. This figure corresponds to the first phase of the project, which is part of a broader master plan focused on attracting high-level tourism investment to the port of Mazatlán.

Located in northern Mazatlán, in front of the Emerald Bay area and near the area known as El Delfín, the complex will be built on a site exceeding 300 hectares, establishing a new hub for real estate and hotel development on the Mexican Pacific coast.

A comprehensive resort complex with luxury hotels and a residential area
He added that the first phase of Verona Resort includes a 300-key luxury family hotel, designed to attract national and international tourism. This is complemented by a 200-key wellness hotel, focused on wellness, premium tourism, and holistic health experiences, a segment currently showing sustained growth globally.

Sosa Osuna explained that the residential component includes four towers with 25 apartments each, totaling 100 exclusive beachfront units. In addition, a private beach club will be integrated, conceived as an exclusive space for guests and residents, increasing the project’s real estate value.

This development is part of a scheme of 13 mixed-use projects that integrate hotels, residential areas, cultural and commercial spaces, a convention center, and an innovative educational component. Plans include the creation of laboratories for the conservation and study of species, as well as a school and university specializing in tourism, where students will be able to complete professional internships at the resort’s hotels.

More Hotels and a Golf Course: Strategic Expansion in Mazatlán
The Verona Resort master plan includes, in addition to the first phase already presented, the construction of additional hotels and a golf course, strengthening Mazatlán’s luxury tourism offerings. Simultaneously, the state government is working on the development of four more hotels that could be announced soon, reinforcing the strategy to attract tourism investment to Sinaloa.

A key point is the donation of six hectares by the developers for the construction of National Guard facilities. This infrastructure aims to guarantee security and proximity to the population, a crucial element for providing certainty to investors and visitors.

It was emphasized that these types of projects reflect Sinaloa’s conditions of legal certainty, order, and stability, determining factors for attracting national and international capital.

For his part, Governor Rocha Moya indicated that the investors were asked to donate land to build a National Guard complex in the port of Mazatlán.

“They already told us yes, they are going to donate six hectares to us and we are going to choose the ones that are closest to the urban area, because the National Guard is a police force and the police must have proximity to the people,” the state governor pointed out.
