With the scheduled arrival of 15 cruise ships to Mazatlán during March, in addition to the 28 ships that arrived during January and February, the port’s image as an ideal and safe destination for this sector of the tourism industry is strengthened.

In an interview, Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez said that in this prosperous environment for the industry, her administration, in coordination with all three levels of government, remains attentive to the needs of the rural area, which also receives thousands of cruise ship visitors each year.

She highlighted that with these arrivals, the projected economic impact for this month is 85 million pesos.

“We are currently in cruise season, as you can see. Today we have one cruise ship, and tomorrow we expect three more. Throughout March, there will be a total of 15 cruise ships, which consolidates Mazatlán as a leading cruise tourism destination at the national and international levels, and we continue to grow in this area as well.”

The cruise ships that call at Mazatlán as part of their Pacific itineraries include the “Royal Princess,” “Navigator of the Seas,” “Norwegian Jade,” “Carnival Panorama,” “Norwegian Bliss,” and “Ruby Princess,” according to information from the Mazatlán Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism.

In the first two months of 2026, Mazatlán welcomed more than 100,000 passengers arriving aboard 28 cruise ships. During their time in port, visitors explored attractions such as Machado Square, the Historic Center, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Pino Suárez Market, and the Golden Zone, among other sites.

During these visits, they took advantage of the opportunity to purchase souvenirs, enjoy meals, and take rides in taxis, horse-drawn carriages, and open-air taxis, as well as explore the surrounding rural areas, generating an economic impact of 150 million pesos in the port.

Tourism Activity Mazatlán has a favorable outlook, as in addition to the arrival of nearly 50 cruise ships in the first quarter of the year, this destination is preparing to receive a large number of visitors for the Holy Week celebrations, Motorcycle Week, and Truck Week, between March and May.

The projections for the summer vacation period are also positive, following the successful results of the 2026 Mazatlán Carnival.
