This Monday, the traditional gastronomic festival La Pazión por el Sabor was announced, featuring the group Kabah this year. Adding to the excitement, the Culinary Awards will also be held in the state capital for the first time, further showcasing La Paz’s culinary scene.
At a recent press conference, Claudia del Pino and Linda Mchatton, founders and organizers of this gastronomic competition, which originated in Los Cabos, announced the expansion of the contest to La Paz, Baja California Sur.
Those wishing to participate and be included in the culinary guide to be published in December have from March 12th to 31st to register on the official website: culinary-awards.com.
The winners in each category will receive a silver statuette sponsored by Taller de los Ballesteros, selected by public vote. The awards ceremony will be held on November 4th.
It’s worth noting that in December, the MaQueCho festival took place in the town of San Antonio, showcasing Baja California Sur’s gastronomy to tourists and locals alike.
The Culinary Awards La Paz Organizing Committee indicated that they anticipate the participation of between 80 and 100 restaurants from the capital, encompassing everything from haute cuisine to taco stands.
Claudia Pino shared a statistic that inspired the decision to hold this competition in La Paz: according to surveys, 56% of diners polled in the southern part of the state mentioned at least one restaurant in La Paz; they believe that approximately 40 of these restaurants will be of a high caliber for the competition.
On its website, the Culinary Awards notes that in 2025, in Los Cabos, they had 153 participating restaurants and nearly 10,000 voters.
They also estimate more than 2.8 million social media impressions and 46,000 interactions, representing a large reach for La Paz restaurant owners to promote their products for much of the year.
