The meeting between authorities from all three levels of government and business leaders from Mazatlán’s tourism sector will indeed take place this Thursday, March 12, 2026, with the goal of refining strategies for Holy Week, the city council announced.

Despite earlier reports that the meeting was being rescheduled for Friday the 13th, municipal authorities clarified in a statement that the original date of Thursday remains unchanged. The meeting will be attended by the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Marcela Figueroa Franco.

“This meeting, convened within the framework of the development objectives for Mazatlán established by the Mexican government under President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, will be attended by members of the business sector to advance common goals related to well-being, tourism promotion, and security,” the municipality’s Communications Office stated.

This morning, Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez was interviewed at the entrance to City Hall and mentioned that she will be present at the federal meeting, which will also include the participation of Mireya Sosa Osuna, Secretary of Tourism for the state.

“And a group of business owners who have already officially… Yes, the business sector, commerce, tourism services, above all, because our mayor, Claudia Sheinbaum, intends to boost the economy of Mazatlán, a destination with a strong tourism focus, and to keep business owners informed about all the strategies being implemented at the national, state, and municipal levels.”

In this regard, Palacios Domínguez said that the attendance of Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection, was not yet confirmed, and that the federal officials would lead this important meeting.

The mayor stated that, in accordance with the established order, the national, state, and municipal security strategies will be presented to the business leaders, and a question-and-answer session with the attendees is also planned.

“We are very interested in listening to you and implementing public policies that benefit the entire sector. That is our goal—for you to thrive because we know you are job creators and actively participate in Mazatlán’s economic life. Therefore, we will be paying close attention to the outcome of this meeting,” said Palacios Domínguez.
