More than 14,000 cruise passengers arrived in Mazatlán this Thursday aboard three cruise ships.
During the off-season, the simultaneous arrival of three cruise ships comes at an opportune time, according to tourism service providers. The first cruise ship to arrive was the Ruby Princess, coming from La Paz.
It carries 2,911 passengers and 1,147 crew members and will continue its route to Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.
The Norwegian Bliss arrived an hour later, after docking in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, bringing 4,805 passengers and 1,602 crew members.
The Navigator of the Seas is the third ship to visit Mazatlán, having previously visited Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
This cruise ship brings 3,690 passengers and 1,263 crew members who will enjoy the various tourist attractions that Mazatlán offers, both in the city and the surrounding rural areas.
This marks the second triple arrival in March, and three of the 15 cruise ships scheduled to arrive during the third month of the year.
The constant arrival of cruise ships boosts tourism activity in Mazatlán, stated Mireya Sosa Osuna, Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa.
In a recent press release, the Secretary of Tourism emphasized that cruise ships and air connectivity are two key drivers of tourism activity in Mazatlán.
This information was released after the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, along with the Secretary of Tourism and other state and municipal officials, held a working meeting with the U.S. Consul General in Hermosillo, Drew Hoster.
The official reaffirmed how tourism has become an economic engine for the port of Mazatlán, consolidating its position as a key destination on the Pacific coast by 2026, with high hotel occupancy and significant economic benefits generated by the arrival of cruise ships.
“Tourism drives real estate investment and commerce in our tourist destinations, in this case Mazatlán, generating hundreds of millions of pesos in economic activity each year,” he stated.
In the cruise sector, Mazatlán is a leader in the region, with 15 international cruise ship arrivals scheduled for March 2026 alone, which will generate an economic impact of more than 82 million pesos.
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), last year 124 cruise ships arrived with 436,000 passengers, generating an economic impact of over 695 million pesos.
