Tourism boosts Oaxaca with an economic impact of 293 million pesos during the holiday weekend

Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) anticipates high tourist influx and hotel occupancy exceeding 72 percent in three state destinations.

During the holiday weekend commemorating the 220th anniversary of Benito Juárez’s birth, the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) estimates a cumulative economic impact of 293 million pesos in three of the state’s main tourist destinations.

The agency reported that tourist activity will be concentrated in Oaxaca de Juárez, Huatulco Bays, and Puerto Escondido, where a significant number of visitors are expected during the holiday period.

According to estimates, the expected tourist influx is 67,962 people, with an average hotel occupancy rate of 72.69 percent in these tourist destinations.

Furthermore, it is projected that this year the economic impact will register an increase of 5.57 percent and tourist arrivals will grow by 4.98 percent compared to previous periods. Oaxaca City Outlook

From March 13th to 15th, Oaxaca de Juárez is expected to reach a hotel occupancy rate of 73.70 percent, with 27,115 visitors and an estimated economic impact of 117 million pesos.

Huatulco Bays is projected to reach a hotel occupancy rate of 82.19 percent, with 21,707 visitors and an estimated economic impact of 139 million pesos during the holiday weekend.

Puerto Escondido is expected to reach a hotel occupancy rate of 55.08 percent, with 19,139 visitors and an economic impact of 37 million pesos.
